Firewise Meeting                                                                                                                                 October 11, 2023

LCMC Board Room

Attendees: Ray Menard, Gregg Dahmen, Dennis Wicks, Alec Pennington, Maggie Schmidt, Gary Nelson, Dave Peterson, Kathy Stafford.  Unable to use Zoom call technology.

Meeting was called to order at 10:05 AM by President Alec Pennington

Minutes of September13, 2023 meeting were approved.

Treasurer Report- Gary Nelson presented financial report.  There are now 2 accounts at Umpqua bank.  The savings account balance is $15,988.72, and the checking account balance is $1500.  A new

debit card has been ordered.  The debit card will draw from the checking account.

New Business:

The article for the LCMC fall newsletter is complete.

Gary will look into pricing of “Go Bags” or buckets with the Firewise logo as possible give away items at events.

Continued discussion of new By-laws and Articles of Incorporation. Alec Pennington will be the Registered Agent on all legal documents.  In January 2024 the Secretary of State registration will be changed from Maggie to Alec.  Agreed the Articles of Incorporation are finished.  Continued discussion of the Bylaws.  Finalized clarity between Officer and Director.  Discussion on where funds can go if LCMC dissolves. Alec will update the draft version of the document and post on the Google workspace and email to all Directors.  The discussion will resume in the November meeting.

Gregg suggested a Disaster Preparedness Day scheduled in the fall.  To be continued next meeting.

Kathy Stafford will place Firewise flyers at the Forest Service Office.

Should we have a Communications Chair?  An Education Chair?  Currently not enough members.

 Old Business

**Gary will look at purchasing Vendor aprons with Firewise logo.  Will wait until he has debit card

**Still first on the list for golf cart garage

**Discussed sponsoring/hosting classes for the Community.  Gregg Dahman has many Emergency response resources

**Suggestion to purchase bumper stickers or vinyl window decals to hand out at events. 

**Suggestion to have an adopt a fire hydrant program.

**Market in Hoodsport hosts a Trunk or Treat on Halloween.  Possibly have a presence there.
